The following details can be configured in the General settings section of the carrier settings page:

Carrier name

Optionally, change this to a name that describes the carrier.

Maximum calls

Optionally, set this field to the maximum number of calls that this carrier can handle.  If this number is reached, then further calls to this carrier will be rejected or overflowed.  Leave this field blank for unlimited calls.

This setting is only approximate.  It is possible for extra calls to be sent to the carrier under conditions of heavy load.

Minimum

The minimum number of seconds charged by this carrier for a call.

Increment

The incremental steps applied by this carrier for charging calls after the minimum charging duration has been reached.

Next in SuperRoute

An alternative carrier to which calls will be routed under certain circumstances if calls to this carrier fail.

Exchange account

An account number can be entered to support traffic exchange arrangements.  Carrier call charges will be credited to this account. Double click on the edit box or click on the search icon to open the Account Search Wizard.  This can be used to search for and select account.

SuperRoutes

SuperRoutes provide a basic system for overflowing calls in the event of call rejections.  This is not the same as Alternative Routing.  It is designed to prevent calls from failing if a carrier provides multiple termination facilities.  If a SuperRoute has been selected and an original carrier fails a call, that call will overflow to the SuperRoute under the following conditions only:

For H.323 only, The TCP connection to the carrier cannot be established or fails before a media path has been negotiated.
The carrier does not acknowledge the call within a predefined period of time.  In H.323, this acknowledgement is a Call Proceeding message.  With SIP, it is a 100 status message (Trying).  The length of the timer is normally six seconds, but can be increased to fourteen seconds using the carrier's settings.  The DUAL Softswitch support team can change these lengths if required.  This timer is similar to the T303 timer used within ISDN switches.
The carrier has been locked out using the Administrative Control Panel.
For H.323, the carrier has been defined in DUAL Softswitch to use an H.245 tunnel, but, when the call was sent, the carrier refused the request to open a tunnel.
The maximum number of calls are in progress to the carrier.  This is defined on a per carrier basis.
The call would require an RTP proxy to be used, and the maximum number of allowed proxy calls has already been reached.
A carrier rejects a call with ISDN cause code 34 (or the SIP equivalent).

Carrier rates are not required and are not used for calls that overflow to another carrier using this SuperRoute system.  The rates for the original carrier are used.

SuperRoutes can be chained, and up to thirty SuperRoute overflows can take place for a call.
