Linksys PAP2 configuration

Print this Topic Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The PAP2 is a popular VoIP device, particularly for call shops.  We offer a sample configuration below, which would apply equally well to the eight port SPA8000.  Authentication is achieved using the "Auth ID" and "Password" fields.  For call shops, it is important to use a unique "User ID" for each booth.  These unique references are used by DUAL Softswitch to distinguish between calls made from different booths.

This example assumes that the user's account is 100123 and their password is 123456.  The User IDs are set as "1" and "2", and these values can be used when setting up Advanced Billing on the Call Shop Billing System.

Line 1

User ID  =  1

Admin phone configuration

It is possible to directly select a carrier using the admin account 100001 (and no other account) by calling in this format:

* [Route number] * Destination number

If you are using a Linksys PAP2, then its default configuration will not allow dialling in this format, because it does not conform with the default Dial plan setting.  We suggest the following Dial code setting to enable direct carrier selection:

(*x.*x.|x.)
